ITINERARY 5 (Km 205):
Terni - Norcia (Km 80); Norcia - Castelluccio (Km 30); Norcia - Cascia (Km 21); Cascia - Terni (by Natural Mountain Coscerno Park) (Km 74).
Go out of Terni (beautiful buildings in the downtown; S. Francesco Church; S.Salvatore church; Republic Place and Roma Street) following the indications for Rieti: Marmore Waterfall (it’s possible to admire it only on Saturday and Sunday). Come back towards Terni and reached Papigno, take the road for Norcia (Valnerina SS 209), (waterfall panorama from the lower part). - Arrone (S. Maria Church; Castello Street; ancient part of the village "The Tower"). - Scheggino (S.Nicolò Church, sec. XIII, referred). – Nera Valley (Romitorio) Cerreto of Spoleto (S.Giacomo Monastery, sec. XIV). - Triponzo (characteristic village for its ancient roads; towered walls). Return back for Km 1,7 and take the road direct to Norcia. - Biselli (panorama). - Norcia, surrounded by mountains, is a famous city for pork meat working, (ancient walls; Comunale Palace; S.Benedetto and S.Agostino Churches; the Cathedral; the ancient fortress Castellina, sec.XVI). There are many typical shops “norcinerie” that offer excellent salami of all the types. From Norcia take the road for Forche Canapine, a high footstep 1500 over sea level in the National Natural Park of the Sibillini Mountains. Reached Forche Canapine it’s possible to admire the Pian Grande, an immense uncontaminated plain, to bottom of which there is Castelluccio, the "capital" of the lentils. Return to Norcia to reach Cascia, the earth of S.Rita, dominated from the immense sanctuary and from the constructions for the pilgrims. From Cascia following the indications for Rome, Rieti. Leonessa - Monteleone of Spoleto (Bernabò Palace; the clock Tower; S.Francesco Church). The landscape is characterized from dense woods that cover the slopes of the mountains: no construction, no village; the nature is uncontaminated. - In S.Anatolia of Narco (S. Maria delle Grazie Oratorical) by Valnerina Street take back for Terni. The whole zone is famous for salami and hypocrites.
